This year, ThurtenE is partnering with St. Louis Arc. St. Louis Arc is a non-profit that supports individuals of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout their entire lives. Through this event, we hope to raise awareness for St. Louis Arc and their diverse array of programming.
To kick off the 2026 Carnival Season, we are hosting a community 5K run/walk through the WashU Danforth Campus starting and finishing on the track at Francis Olympic Field.

7:45am – Check-in and packet pick-up
You must either bring a signed copy of your waiver to check-in or have previously emailed a copy to programming@thurtene.org. Printed copies will be available if needed.
8:50am – Report to start line
9:00am – Carnival 5k begins
Schedule of Events
The 5,000 meter course starts and finishes on WashU’s historic Francis Olympic Field and is two laps around WashU’s Danforth Campus including through Brookings Quad and around Mudd Field. The course is mostly flat with a few mild hills and does not have any stairs. The course map is attached below, from the green dot start to the red dot finish.
Course Description
You may park in the Danforth University Center or on the top level of Snow Way Garage parking garage free of charge on race day. Parking is starred on the map below.
Parking
Anyone is welcome at this run/walk no matter their fitness level and we hope students, faculty, and community members can gather for this fun race. The race will be held on April 4th at 9:00am at Francis Olympic Field.
The race will be officially chip-timed with results posted online. The top male and female finishers in the student/faculty and community member categories will each receive a free sheet of carnival ride tickets.
The event will take place rain or shine and will only be cancelled in the event of a thunderstorm or other extreme weather. No refunds will be issued in the case of cancellation.
Please note: No animals (other than service animals) are allowed at the event.
